Artifact History

Early Passion and Discovery of Artifacts

My love for vintage eyewear ignited in the early 2000s, during my teenage years in New York. Surrounded by the eclectic neighborhoods and diverse cultures, I was immersed in a world of rich history and design from an early age, thanks to the influence of friends and family. It was during this time that I discovered my fascination with vintage glasses—the intricate details and timeless shapes drew me in, sparking a passion that has stayed with me ever since.

The Formative years seeking Artifacts

As I pursued various vintage eyewear brands,
I delved deeper into the world of vintage eyewear. My focus on mid-20th-century
design gave me a profound appreciation for the craftsmanship and cultural
significance of eyewear. I began to actively seek out rare and unique pieces,
scouring flea markets, estate sales, antique shops, and long standing opticals
across the United States.

During the 2010’s, my collection grew
steadily, driven by a keen eye for detail and historical context. I became
known in vintage circles for my discerning taste and ability to unearth hidden
gems. My first significant acquisition was a pair of 1980s Cartier aviators,
which set the tone for my future endeavors.

Along my journey I met various friends on Facebook from every corner of the globe that had the same passion for eyewear. In order to bring everyone together and welcome new collectors I decided to create groups where we can share our passion within a community setting. The people in those groups became like an extended family sprinkled all over the world and tied together by one motto “quality vs quantity”. Below I included links to both groups,
anyone is welcome to join, and be part of our small community of collectors.

The Establishment of Artifact Eyewear

In 2020, I established the Artifact Eyewear Brand, an independent brand that bridges the gap between past and present, combining meticulous craftsmanship with innovative design. The rope collection pays homage to the brand’s that ive collected in my early years. The commitment to excellence and timeless style continues to define Artifact Eyewear, making it a beloved choice for those who appreciate the art of eyewear and the allure of vintage sophistication.

The Artifact Boutique

The Artifact Boutique was established in 2021 as a private gallery/museum of noteworthy eyewear brands from all eras including current. The personal collection that’s on display at the boutique spans a remarkable array of styles and periods, from early 20th-century art deco frames to 1960s mod spectacles. Noteworthy pieces include several High Jewelry frames from the 1980’s Must de Cartier Collection that were made by custom order for existing high valued clients. Each item in the collection is accompanied by its own story, reflecting the social and cultural shifts of that specific era. My commitment to authenticity and preservation is evident in my meticulous care of each piece. I personally restore and preserve each frame in the collections to ensure that the eyewear retains its original charm while remaining in pristine condition. The collection serves as both a historical archive and a testament to the artistry of vintage eyewear.

The Artifact Legacy

Today, I remain an avid collector and my love for luxury eyewear continues to grow driven by my passion and unyielding passion and quest for rare and remarkable pieces. Whats changed from then to now is that we have direct accounts with many of the brands Ive collected in the past and we continue to curate only the finest brand selection to offer to our long standing customers. As I looks to the future, I remain dedicated to the mission of curating and sharing the beauty of luxury eyewear, ensuring that the stories and craftsmanship of these timeless treasures continue to inspire and captivate new generations.
